Canon Speedlite 580EX II Flashgun

A high-performance and highly reliable flagship flash unit that is simple to operate and enables wireless multi-flash photography in combination with the E-TTL II autoflash. The maximum guide number of 58/190 (ISO100, in meters/feet) boasts high-level light intensity. With improved water-proofing and dust-proofing, this flash unit now provides even higher levels of reliability to meet the demands of professionals. It has been reinforced by using metal for the mounting foot and has been fitted with an external flash metering function, among other features*. It can be set as either the master or the slave during wireless multi-flash photography. It is also possible to control the various flash functions and custom functions from the camera menu when it is mounted on certain digital SLR camera models. Improvements have also been made to operability, such as incorporating a simple one-touch locking mechanism for mounting and detaching, and making the cover for the battery compartment easy to open and close. This high-function flash unit is easy to operate and offers a wide range of functions to cater to the digital age (color temperature information transmission function, automatic flash coverage control function that matches the camera's image size) and a liquid-crystal panel for operations, in addition to other features. It comes with fourteen custom functions, and can be mounted using the Speedlite Bracket SB-E2.
