Henley on Thames Experienced amateur
- I have three X cameras and, till now, this was the only one for which I didn't have the Fuji leather case. I've liked half-cases since the days of film and 'ever-ready', partly for protection and partly to give my big hands more to hold on to.
Fuji clearly wants to play to this retrophilia, and this case makes a nice addition to the X-E2. The leather is thick and soft enough to protect the camera in a bag and to feel good in the hand. It comes with a matching, but thin, leather strap that I don't use because all my cameras are on Peak Designs straps.
Whether this case makes a better grip than the MHG-XE I had on the camera before remains to be seen. For the price I paid, I'm happy to have both options.
- Fuji's X-series cases - in fact, all their X accessories - are absurdly expensive, and my Value for Money score refers to the list price. I paid about a quarter of that for mine. I simply can't recommend it at full price.
I confess to mixed feelings about the colour. It's a very vivid brown, almost orange in some light, and I'm not convinced that it's a happy match to my black E2 - or even that it would be on a chrome one. My X70 case (bought for half the list price) is chocolate brown, and looks good, but I much prefer the plain black (and free with the camera) case on my (silver) X100F. Perhaps this one will mellow with age and use.
