Manfrotto Befree GT XPRO Aluminium Tripod | MKBFRA4GTXP-BH

The Manfrotto Befree series as proven to be an ideal solution for travelling photographers. Befree tripods tick many boxes for today’s demanding photographers. They are small and lightweight but remain sturdy and extended to a usable height.

Manfrotto have now combined the Befree with their XPRO system to create a perfect partnership. The XPRO feature allows the camera to be offset from the legs’ position and provides a simple solution to shoot at ground level or directly overhead. This new partnership combines portability with maximum versatility enabling the most creative photographers to push their limits.

The Befree GT XPRO Carbon Tripod is a Manfrotto travel tripod developed for professional macro photographers. The XPRO feature is designed for fast and secure operation with a large unlocking knob and push button system underneath the column. Unlock the column, push the release button and raise the column until the red shell appears. At this point, you can move the centre column into the horizontal position and have full 360-degree rotation to find the perfect position. This mechanism is hidden in the top casting which stays safely stored until needed.

The included 496 Ball Head perfectly matches the Befree GT XPRO tripod. The ball movement is very smooth and has impressive locking power. With a maximum payload of 10kg, you can put a wide range of Mirrorless and DSLR cameras. The head works very well with the XPRO centre column system with independent panoramic and friction knob for full movement control. Included with the head is the 200PL-Pro plate, which is Arca-swiss compatible and will work with other RC2 based Manfrotto heads.

Manfrotto have used the M-Lock system with this tripod to allow fast and secure operation whilst making sure it remains portable. The locking system has an easy 90-degree rotation to disengage, maximum grip for precise adjustment and design to maintain the compactness when closed.

A travel tripod wouldn’t be complete if you didn’t include a bag. The Befree GT XPRO includes the MBAGBFR2 bag to allow the user to safely store the tripod whilst in transit and make life a little more comfortable whilst out and about.

This Aluminium version weighs in at 2kg but can handle a payload of 10kg. The closed length is 43cm and it will extend all the way to 162cm whilst getting down to just 9cm using the XPRO column system. This version is better suited to a photographer wanting something compact and light but not going too long a distance, here or overseas.

There is an alternative Carbon version, the MKBFRC4GTXP-BH, with the same specs but weighs in at just 1.76kg. This would be most suited to photographers travelling regularly and need to keep in mind the strict weight restrictions with overseas travel.

I like the flexibility of having a horizontal option for macro work. Seems well built.
Nothing really apart from price.
