Allows easy customisation of settings for focus limiter, image stabilisation & also any available firmware updates.

Haven't tried to micro-adjust the autofocus settings as my lens focuses fine anyway

Ease of use. Inexpensive.
Provide more info about using the dock especially with regards customising the focus settings across the entire range of the lense.

Easy and Intuitive way to update the firmware as well as providing a relatively simple way to change the AF focus points.
I think for most people, this will provide little or no benefit, as the existing functionality of the lens(s) will be adequate without any change being required. Unless you have a specific problem, then it's of questionable benefit. Changing the focus point for AF is unavoidably a very time consuming task.
