Who can use AstroMaster Telescopes?

AstroMasters can be used by almost anyone. They are a fantastic entry-level telescope, use it with the whole family or as a way to enter the fascinating world of astronomy.

Equatorial AstroMasters

The majority of the telescopes in the AstroMaster range come with German Equatorial Mounts. The Equatorial AstroMasters can be identified by the “EQ” in their name such as the AstroMaster 130EQ, AstroMaster 114EQ & the AstroMaster 70EQ. These are intuitive to use, controlled by two slow-motion control knobs that allow for fine-tuned adjustments. Equatorial mounts provide more accurate star tracking by moving at the same angle to the curvature of the Earth and thus follow objects as they move across the sky.

Altazimuth Astromasters

The only telescope in the AstronMaster series to come with an Altazimuth mount is the AstroMaster 70AZ, and can be identified by the “AZ” in the title. This refractor telescope is operated via a pan-handle that can be moved up/down and left/right to track the movement of the stars across the sky. They can be less accurate than Equatorial Mounts however are still a great option for entry-level astronomers.
