What size is the sensor in the XA50?
The 1" 8.29MP sensor captures natural imagery with a wide dynamic range making it an excellent tool for low-light filming. It also features some of Canon's most sought after professional features including dual pixel and contrast detect autofocus.
15x optical zoom lens
The Canon XA50 boasts an integrated 15x optical zoom lens that is capable of 25.5mm at the wide end of the focal range to allow you to cover a huge range of shooting styles. This combined with the camera’s powerful 5-axis image stabilisation will allow you to capture outstanding footage in a multitude of filming situations such as documentary, news and field journalism.

The camera features an intelligent automatic mode but will also give you full manual control, slow-motion recording, 5-axis image stabilisation, a 3" touchscreen and the button layout can be easily customised. Capture high-quality footage using the camera at high-sensitivities with low noise.

Another feature of the XA50 is its ability to film in Infrared. This allows the user to capture video in situations of little to no ambient light. This includes the option to shoot in white or green mode.

The XA50 has useful features like zebra, colour bars and test tones and a built-in neutral density filter offering ND4, ND16 and ND64.
Record 4K UHD and full HD 1080p60 to dual SD card slots and outputs via mini-HDMI and 3G-SDI ports. When one card slot becomes full the camera will automatically begin recording to the second slot.

The XA50 features up to four channels of LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation) audio for uncompressed audio with manual and or automatic recording levels. The attachable handle features dual XLR inputs and the camera also has a 3.5mm stereo mini for a mic. The camera also has an onboard stereo microphone and a headphone jack for monitoring your audio.
