Why buy the Tokina atx-i 11-16mm f2.8 CF lens?

The Tokina atx i 11-16mm F/2.8 CF lens is an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens. It has been developed for use with Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras that have APS-C sensors. It is the first f2.8 fast ultra-wide-angle zoom lens of its kind.

The 11-16mm focal length was created to meet the demands of photographers looking for a diverse wide-angle zoom lens, that can be used in multiple scenarios. It has been designed with the landscape, interior, nightscape and group photographer in mind, allowing them to get the perfect framing and composition.

A constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout the entire zoom range is realized to achieve great results in low light situations, excellent depth of field control and easy manual shooting. This is all reached while maintaining a reasonable size and weight of the lens at just 555g.

Truly brilliant optical performance

Tokina has developed the lens to meet the demands of photographers and video creators. As an ultra-wide-angle lens, it performs fantastically in both applications.

This is realised by two aspherical glass elements which are combined with two super low dispersion glass elements. These give minimal distortion. They also keep astigmatism and spherical aberration under control. This provides crisp, detailed image resolution across the frame.

The lens has also been designed to reduce any light fall off at all of its focal lengths.

An anti-reflection multi-layered coating refines light transmission. It will cancel out most reflections. A water repellant coating makes the front glass very easy to clean - keeping it sharp for years to come!

Advanced attention to detail

While developing the lens, Tokina has brought in plenty of perks and technology to build a superbly practical lens.

The zoom and focus ring have been engineered to make sure there is no play and they are tightly damped.

The Nikon F Mount lens features a silent focusing motor. This is combined with a high precision GMR sensor. This allows AF on Nikon bodies that don’t have a motor and drive gear.

A highly useful One-touch focus clutch mechanism will allow easy switching from manual to AF.

An internal focusing construction keeps the lens at the same size and length when zooming and focusing. This is great for quickly packing the camera away.  and smooth handling when composing your shot.

Super wide angle lens with a great aperture of f2.8. Love it for filming.
Only for APS-C, and I think usable for Full Frame from 14mm/15mm.
