Kowa Genesis XD33 10x33 DCF Binocular
Seeking a world of binoculars without chromatic aberration.
The Genesis Series incorporates Kowa’s “PROMINAR” lenses. To attain the highest pinnacle of binocular performance, a total of 4 XD lenses (2 sets of 2 lenses) are utilized in the objective end of the binoculars.
This significantly reduces chromatic aberration and provides high contrast in the field of view.
C3 Multi-coatings provide precise color definition and deliver optimal images. The new wide angle eyepiece design of the Genesis/XD33 Series has increased the field of view of the 8x by 28% (420 feet at 1,000 yards) and the 10x by 14% (360 feet at 1,000 yards) compared to the 32mm Kowa BD binocular series.
XD Lenses Kowa’s branded XD Lenses (eXtra-low Dispersion glass which has characteristics close to fluorite crystal), when combined with a concave lens possessing special dispersion properties, reduces a very high percentage of chromatic aberration (color blur).
C3 Coating Kowa’s roof prism binoculars use a Schmidt-Pechan prism. One surface of the Pechan prism does not provide total reflection, so a highly reflective C3 coating has been applied. This allows for higher reflectivity than with silver or optically enhanced aluminum which offers a 99% or higher reflectance across the entire visible spectrum (400-700nm). This not only provides bright and sharp images but also accurate color reproduction.
Phase Coating Phase coated roof prism ‒ The Schmidt prism roof surface is phase corrected to ensure sharp images and outstanding contrast.
All-surface Multicoating Multi-coated Optical System provides precise color definition for a brighter and sharper image.
Waterproof structure filled with WP dry nitrogen gas The housing is waterproof and filled with nitrogen gas which prevents internal fogging.
**Not intended for underwater use.
Twist-up Eyecup Twist-up multi-step eyecups allow easy viewing even when wearing eyeglasses.

Have been a fan of Kowa Genesis for some time and took the opportunity to bag the 10x33's at a great price for use on the coast and other open places where the extra pull of 10's will be handy. The Genesis 33's are a really excellent binocular in every way. My other bin's are Leica UVidHD's and the Genesis 33's give very little to them both in terms of image quality and build integrity. They are getting more scarce now but if you haven't looked though a Genesis 33 yet, then compare them to the Alpha's. You may be surprised.

Very clear view, excellent for identifying small birds and other creatures, flowers etc. Also very good close up for insects. Very light weight for the power they offer. Great build quality, should last for years
−
Hard to criticise; they are 10x33 which does mean you need to hold them a tad firmer, than bins with bigger glass, but thats why they are small and light, so fully expected.
