But which 360-degree camera to buy? We’ve picked out a couple of our best to get you started.

Best Camera for 360 Videos

Get creative with 360 videos and immerse yourself fully in another world. Most cameras come with 4K30p as standard these days but some go all-out to give you the crispest most stunning visuals.

Our Top Pick: Insta360 Titan 11K Virtual Reality Camera > If you’re going to dive in, you may as well do it right. With the largest sensors available in any single VR camera the Titan maximises image and video quality. Recording 11K30p 360º footage and 10K30p in 3D too!

Best Camera for 360 Photography

While most 360-degree cameras focus on boosting their video specs there are still a lot of benefits to creating spectacular 360 photographs. The cameras natural wide-angle can create some interesting perspectives to play around with.

Our Top Pick: Ricoh Theta Z1 51GB > This Ricoh camera captures stunning 23MP images that match some of the best mid-to-pro range mirrorless cameras available today. The boosted 51GB internal storage will give you the freedom to get experimental and shoot without worrying about space.

Best 360-Degree Camera for Real Estate

With a growing demand for 360º virtual tours of properties, the real estate market has benefitted hugely from 360-cameras. The ability to create incredible 360 panoramas and high-quality video tours really give customers a sense of a property.

Our Top Pick: Insta360 One X2 > Records videos at 5.7K30p and snaps images in 18.5MP – ideal for capturing all the detail in your property. Plus its small size is ideal for getting into every reading nook, boiler room and storage shed.

Best 360-degree Action Camera

When it comes to action shooting, stabilisation is everything. In order to show off your dare-devil stunts without inducing sea-sickness, you need to be looking for cameras with the best stabilisation.

Our Top Pick: Insta360 One R Action Camera > The One R’s upgraded stabilisation means the footage is crisp, clear, and most importantly smooth. Even if you’re mountain biking down the most rugged terrain.

Best 360-Degree Camera on a Budget

So not everyone can afford an 11K Virtual Reality 360º Camera. And not everyone needs one! For those looking to try out 360-degree shooting in their everyday life, we’ve got you covered.

Our Top Pick: Ricoh Theta SC2 > All the benefits of 360-degree capture at a much more affordable price. Enjoy the 4K30p Video and 14.5MP images plus special features like Face Mode and Night View.

Top Tips for shooting 360 Video

1. If you can see the camera, the camera can see you

There is nowhere to hide when it comes to 360-shooting so make sure you have somewhere like a wall or a hedge that you can get behind if you don’t want to be included in the shot.

2. Look out for mirrors

Being able to see your camera in a mirror can break the experience and look unprofessional. Be sure when setting up a shot that you try to avoid mirrors because you won’t be able to edit the camera out in post.

3. Record from your eye level

Shooting from too high or too low can make the 360 images look distorted. In order to get the most natural view, level the tripod/monopod to your eye line.
