Why buy the Sigma 105mm f1.4 DG HSM ART Lens?
World leaders in F1.4 brightness
When SIGMA introduced their first f1.4 lens back in 2012, the 35mm f1.4 DG HSM Art; their line up of stunning f/1.4 lenses has grown and grown. The full line has been designed to give minimum aberrations while delivering superb contrast and inspiring resolution.
With the longest focal length in the range, the 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art is no exception in their line of leading 1.4 lenses. It offers beautiful bokeh and excellent resolution. The lens has been developed to offer visual brilliance in both in and out of focus areas of your image.

Unparalleled F1.4 Performance
The lens is constructed with 17 optical elements across 12 groups. A high number for any prime lens. SIGMA made this decision in order to synthesise the wide aperture and mid-telephoto performance with the f1.4 brightness at max aperture.
The lens has three FLD glass elements and two SLD glass elements. These are combined with one aspherical lens element. This means the optical system will minimise axial chromatic aberration. Which, in turn, gives an exceptionally high resolution and very adequate volume of light.
The in-focus areas give incredible sharpness, which is met by stunning bokeh in the out of focus area. True to life natural colour makes this lens an excellent selection for any portrait photographer.
The optical system also dramatically reduces sagittal coma flare. This makes it perfect for shooting the sky at night.
Rapid autofocus and full-time manual focus
Switch with ease from the high-performance AF system, to manual focus with the easy to use focus ring.
Minimal Flare & Ghosting
Flare and Ghosting have been measured throughout the design stages. This attention to detail has resulted in a lens which is resistant to strong incident light.
A Super Multi-Layer Coating will reduce flare and ghosting. This will give sharp, high contrast images even in challenging light. A lens hood is included. This can be used to prevent any extraneous light.
Extraordinary peripheral brightness
The lens effectively delivers ample lighting to your images. This is achieved by maximising the diameter of the 1st element in the optical system. A large 105mm filter diameter takes in a great volume of peripheral light, making the lens one of the best in class for this.
Minimal vignetting is combined with a stunning bokeh effect, making the lens great for portrait photography.
Top-spec sealing and protection
When it comes to sealing, the lens has taken inspiration from the SIGMA Sport line of lenses. The 105mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens has excellent dustproof and splashproof design. Mount connection sealing, manual focus ring, cover connection all have specialised sealing from SIGMA - as well as other key areas across the lens. This gives photographers peace of mind in any environment.
The front lens element has an oil and water repellent coating. The coating is easy to clean and will protect the glass from many substances.
It has a brass mount which combines precision engineering with durable build quality. Treated surfaces combined with advanced strength give excellent lifespan and durability to the lens.
