- Beautiful lens this - just way too expensive for what it is. I'd go for the 35mm f1.8 & the 85mm f 1.8 & you'd be all set. Get a 10-18mm if you want super wide.

From landscapes and interiors to 1:4 macro shots, the versatile SEL24F18Z delivers corner-to-corner sharpness with minimum distortion even at maximum F1.8 aperture.
Crafted by ZEISS
Founded in 1846, ZEISS AG is a legend in the field of camera optics. Their lenses are renowned for exceptional clarity, brightness, resolution and contrast. This one features the acclaimed ZEISS T* coating, which subdues internal reflections to minimise flare and ghosting.
Instead of a standard polygon-shaped lens aperture, this lens features a 7-blade circular aperture for more natural, rounded defocusing or ‘bokeh’.
To optimise performance, aspherical lens elements maintain high contrast (even with the aperture wide open) and minimise distortion and flatness of the image plane.
Fast, agile focusing
An internal focusing mechanism means the lens barrel doesn’t move, enabling a more compact design, faster autofocus response, and reduced minimum focusing distances.
The F2.8 ZEISS Vario-Sonnar® T* has a wide aperture, which allows more light to enter the lens. The unique T* multilayer lens coating gives you sharp, true-colour image reproduction – without flare or ‘ghosting’. The wide aperture also enables you to control foreground and background blur levels, so you can be more creative with your photos.
This 35mm Full Frame prime lens is designed to work with the latest Full Frame E-mount cameras from Sony, delivering outstanding contrast and resolution right out to the edges of the image.
Aspherical lens technology maximises portability without sacrificing imaging power. The lens combines three aspherical elements with one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element to deliver high-precision shots and breathtaking rendering – without the bulky design usually associated with similar DSLR lenses.
The 7-blade circular design keeps the aperture almost perfectly circular throughout the full range of F-stops. This makes it possible to achieve smoother, more natural defocusing in your images – including artistic blurring or 'bokeh' – and greater control over the depth of field.
