Crafted by ZEISS

Founded in 1846, ZEISS AG is a legend in the field of camera optics. Their lenses are renowned for exceptional clarity, brightness, resolution and contrast. This one features the acclaimed ZEISS T* coating, which subdues internal reflections to minimise flare and ghosting.

Fast, agile focusing

An internal focusing mechanism means the lens barrel doesn’t move, enabling a more compact design, faster autofocus response, and reduced minimum focusing distances.

Other Features

ZEISS Vario-Sonnar® T lens

The F4 ZEISS Vario-Sonnar® T allows light to enter the lens for striking results. The unique T* multilayer lens coating gives you sharp, true-colour image reproduction – without flare or ‘ghosting’. The wide aperture also enables you to control foreground and background blur levels, so you can be more creative with your photos. F4 constant is especially good at telephoto range, and also when recording movies as well.

35mm Full Frame imaging

This 35mm Full Frame prime lens is designed to work with the latest Full Frame E-mount cameras and E-mount cameras from Sony. The lens delivers outstanding contrast and resolution right out to the edges of the image.

Advanced aspherical lens technology

Aspherical lens technology maximises portability without sacrificing imaging power. The lens combines five aspherical elements with one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element to deliver high-precision shots and breathtaking rendering – without the bulky design usually associated with similar DSLR lenses.

Extra-low Dispersion glass element

Lenses constructed with conventional optical glass struggle with chromatic aberration as the focal length increases. Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass counters these issues, delivering superior contrast and colour quality across the entire focal length – even at large aperture settings.

Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation

Optical SteadyShot keeps your image stable even when your hands aren’t. By compensating for the minor hand motions that can cause blurring and distortion, Optical SteadyShot ensures brilliant photographic results – even at high zooms.

7-blade circular aperture

The 7-blade circular makes it possible to achieve smoother, more natural defocusing in your images. Get creative with artistic blurring or 'bokeh' – and greater control over the depth of field.

Constant F4 maximum aperture

Shooting at a constant F4 aperture across the entire 24–70mm focal length, you’ll always be able to capture sharp, controlled images. At full zoom, you can lower your ISO setting and increase your shutter speed, so you can capture every second of the action without the worry of noise distortion.

There is absolutely nothing bad that I can say about this lens, it is responsive, beautifully clear, easy to use. There is not enough space to tell how much I like the combination of the Sony A7ii and this particular lens. I use it for portraiture, landscape and star shots and it does not let me down anywhere.
Nothing!

Lightweight and super easy and fast to use on the Ar7II. Great control of contrast and tonal gradiation.
Slightly soft toward the edges on wider angles i.e. 28 - 24mm but fine toward the centre.

Prime-level image quality. Really!
Lighter than expected - balances well.
Fast AF and MF pretty nice feel too.
Got 10% off RRP at the Sony event.
Could be 10 for IQ - until you try Otus :)
Price - but it's probably worth it really

Distortions rely on s/w correction (not my favourite solution) but fixes up just fine in Capture One for Sony.
