Not All ED Binoculars Are Created Equal
Delivering impressive images comes naturally to the Celestron Regal range. The 8x42 ED binoculars use their superior Extra-Low Dispersion glass to virtually eliminate any chromatic aberrations. Removing this colour fringing takes away unwanted distractions and leaves a stunningly detailed image for the observer. Not all ED glass is created equally, the glass that Celestron use is visibly brighter and produces sharper images compared to non-ED binoculars. The difference is particularly noticeable in low light conditions such as at dawn and dusk.
Flat Field Technology
In addition to the ED glass, the Regal binoculars feature flat-field optical technology to ensure a level, edge-to-edge clarity. Ordinary convex lenses naturally show field curvature, especially over a larger field of view, the Regal 8x42’s however use flat field technology that counter-balances this and delivers an expansive linear image all the way to the edge of the field of view.
Fully Multi-Coated
The Regal ED’s feature fully multi-coated optics to allow for the maximum amount of light to pass through the glass to the eye. The prisms inside the binoculars are made of high-quality Bak-4 glass with phase coatings applied so that more light is reflected off their internal faces and passes through. Together these two elements maximise the light transmission producing exceptionally bright and highly detailed images.
Ergonomic Body & Glasses Friendly
Celestron has designed the Regal EDs to be as ergonomic as possible. They have a well-balanced magnesium alloy body that protects the binoculars from wear and tear without weighing you down. They are fully waterproof and filled with dry nitrogen gas that prevents them from fogging internally. They also feature durable metal twist eyecups that make the binoculars comfortable for glasses wearers too. The eyecups have multiple stop positions so that you can find the height most comfortable for you.
Birders Dream
The Regal ED binoculars are a birdwatcher’s dream. They have a wide field of view of 140 meters at 1000m but a close object focus of as little as 1.5 meters (4.9’). This wide range makes them ideal for spotting and tracking subjects that move quickly such as birds, butterflies and insects. Not just suitable for birds, however, these would make an excellent all-around pair of binoculars to have in your bag.
Different Ways to Observe
Carry your Regal ED’s with the included padded strap or on the cross-body carrying harness. These binoculars can be transported in many ways and can also be used multi-functionally for different ways of observation. The Regal binoculars are tripod adaptable to fit any standard photographic tripod*, ideal for extended periods of viewing. The binoculars can also be used for digiscoping*, allowing you to capture images of your observations in real-time.
