An ultra-stable Dobsonian base allows for quick yet smooth adjustments and reliable long-term viewing. Locate objects with ease thanks to the easy-to-follow on-screen arrows that direct you to your desired target. Then when the bullseye turns green, it's ready to view in the telescope's eyepiece.
SkySafari app
Quickly and easily align your phone to the telescope's optics and launch the StarSense Explorer app to begin your journey. Using StarSense sky recognition technology alongside your smartphone’s app the telescope can analyse star patterns overhead and calculate the telescope’s position in real time. Through this, you can locate faint, deep-sky objects in seconds and see them in incredible detail. The app will automatically generate a list of objects currently visible so you can easily view planets, brighter nebulae and galaxies, star clusters, and double stars even from the city.
High build quality
The StarSense Explorer features large-diameter altitude bearings with variable tensioning, Teflon azimuth bearings, and braces on the side panels for extra stability.
Optically, the large 12" Newtonian reflector optical tube boasts an incredible light-gathering ability that brings details to the fore. The 12” Dobsonian has 2.25 more light gathering ability than the 8” Dobsonian and 2.25x more light gathering ability than the 10” Dobsonian, providing better views of faint objects.
Clear images and sharp focus
Light throughout and visible contrast are enhanced by an XLT optical coating that is applied to all mirror surfaces of the telescope. A high-quality 2” Crayford focuser also ensures smooth and precise movements avoiding the effects of focus shifting, while a thumbscrew allows for the sharpest focus to be locked in. A 2” to 1.25” adapter and a 2” extension tube provide compatibility with virtually any 1.25” or 2” telescope eyepiece in your kit.
