Use the Celestron X-Cel LX 3x Barlow Lens - 1.25” to triple the magnification of any 1.25” eyepiece.
Premium Quality
Part of the X-Cel LX line, identified by the black-anodized housing with orange highlights, this 3x Barlow lens is constructed from three apochromatic, fully coated premium optics that yield high contrast, sharp images and are virtually free of false colour.
A centralised rubber grip can be turned even in weathers where gloves are required. And the 1.25” filter thread makes the changing of eyepieces quick and easy without needing to remove and reattach the filter from each eyepiece barrel.
Brass Compression Ring
A brass compression ring sits just inside the top of the X-Cel Barlow that grabs the eyepiece gently but firmly when the thumbscrew is turned. Once secured, the brass ring keeps your eyepiece in the Barlow instead of relying on the tip of the thumbscrew itself which provides a better grip as well as protecting the barrel from scratches.
View Quadruple Magnification
For an even higher magnification than triple, place the Barlow between the diagonal and the telescope, this will multiply the magnification strength by 1.5 turning your 3x Barlow into a 4.5x. Allowing you to view the sky with an even higher image magnification whilst still maintaining image brightness.

What are the advantages of a Barlow lens?
Eyepieces with a longer focal length tend to have a deeper eye relief which is more comfortable to look through. By using a Barlow lens with the eyepiece one can experience double the magnification whilst maintaining the same eye relief. This can be particularly useful for new astronomers or those who wear glasses during observations.
Is higher magnification always better?
Higher magnification does not always equal higher image quality. The magnification will also magnify atmospheric turbulence which may make the image appear blurry. It is best to experiment with different combinations of Barlow lenses with eyepieces to find the best view for your object and current viewing conditions.
