DJI Mavic Mini vs DJI Mini 2 comparison - what do we think?
So what’s the difference? What has actually changed? A lot! Improvements in video quality, transmission and flight performance have got us very excited indeed.
Upgrading from the already superb 2.7K video of the original DJI Mavic Mini, the Mini 2 will capture awe-inspiring 4K 30 FPS. For stills, the 1/2.3″ sensor, 12MP still images doesn’t sound much different - however, users can now shoot in RAW allowing you to give more depth to your photography in post.
Flight time has increased from 30mins to 31mins. Not that exciting - you’re probably thinking. However, when you account for the more powerful motors, it starts to make sense.
The Mini 1 could combat wind speeds up to 8m/s - this has now increased to 10.5m/s. That’s the same as a Mavic Air 2!
Another exciting addition is DJI’s Ocusync 2.0 which allows up to 10KM video transmission in HD allowing you to reach further comfortably.
Tough, Compact Lightweight Drone
Weighing less than 249g, the Mini 2 is compact and convenient for everyday flying. This impressive drone will fit in the palm of your hand but this doesn’t mean it compromises on performance.
How powerful is the Mini 2 Drone?
The Mini 2 will resist level 5 winds thanks to new improved motors. A powerful battery gives up to 31 minutes of flight time.
What is Ocusync 2.0?
OcuSync 2.0 is DJI’s Video Transmission system. It will allow the mini to stream HD video up to 10KM from the controller.
Smooth 4K video, stunning 12MP RAW images
The Mini 2 has a 12-megapixel camera that is capable of capturing images in RAW to give you even more creative freedom. 4K 30FPS video is ultra-smooth from the camera which is mounted on a 3 axis motorized gimbal.

I’ve owned a DJI Mavic Mini for around a year now. It’s been an awesome little drone to really learn the hobby. I’ve always been into video more than photography, and the cinematic smoothness of this affordable drone has been perfect for my needs.
For some time, the upgrade on my list has been the Mavic Air 2. The only frustrations I’ve really experienced with my Mini, have been transmission range and wind - so the Air 2 made sense to me.
