The sheer quality of the optics and the overall solid build quality for the price.
A friend compared them against his 8x32 Swarovski's and said there was very little between them, slighly better low light was the only distinction. That's how how good these wee Hawke Frontier ED X 8x32's are.
Possibly better lens caps being supplied, a slightly deeper recess of the lens cap would keep them more securely fixed in place.

Very nice to handle. I was also keen to buy British if possible and the lifetime warranty was a clincher. Excellent value for money.
The case is reassuringly robust but heavy.

Really well made - great feeling of quality. Fantastic brightness and field of view for a 32mm objective. I’ve really enjoyed using them so far, focus is smooth and the image is very good. I did read a few reviews and considered spending a lot more money but I’m delighted with these. I’ve saved about 200g over my old 42mm bins and they are a bit smaller - and the optical performance is better. If I was going to sit in a bird hide for hours, I’d probably go for 42mm full size as they’re marginally brighter and easier to look through but I reckon I’m more likely to take these out and use them. Overall, the package feels like something that could cost twice as much - very impressive.
Due to the solid construction these are not really the very lightest or most compact in their class. The lens covers are a bit ‘low rent’ compared to the binoculars themselves and the case seems like it’s meant for bigger binoculars. Whilst the case is great quality (indeed it looks much like a Swarovski one) I’d prefer something simpler and more compact.

Sharpness, field of view and smooth focus are excellent. Brightness beats a pair of decent 7x50's I own that are 10 plus years old.
Does not always deal very well with stray light hitting the optics, a milky light sometimes intrudes into the view.Possibly I need more eye relief. Not sharp all the way to the edges, but overall a very good performance for the money paid and an excellent birding binocular.

Solid build, smooth focus and a very sharp central image. Good colour & contrast. Easy to hold for a stable view. Good quality, if rather bulky semi rigid case.
A more compact case and better objective lens caps. Personally, I would have preferred focus from close to far to be in the clockwise direction, not anticlockwise.

Exactly what I was expecting, they are portable enough for me to take out on regular exercise sessions during lockdown.
