Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f 2.8 TC VR S lens
A new S-Line Super telephoto prime lens; the Nikon Z 400mm is perfect for wildlife, sports and nature.
We first heard of the new Nikkor Z lens back in October 2021 when the Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera was announced. This Z mount lens has been built from the ground up, specifically for mirrorless and features many enhancements when compared to it’s F-mount, AF-S equivalent.
New Nikon VCM technology
The Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S lens introduces a new Silky Swift Voice Coil Motor focus system. This new technology features an optical ABS encoder which offers high speed, and quieter than before, autofocus. This AF system also features superb subject tracking and acquisition, giving you ultimate reliability when capturing those challenging shots.
New Meso Amorphous Coating
New to the Z range of lenses from Nikon is a Meso Amorphous Coat. This advanced coating provides optimal anti-reflection performance; something which Nikon states to be its best yet. The coating consists of particles that are smaller than nanoparticles. This offers superb control when it comes to pesky ghosting and flaring. Perfect for shooting in challenging environments when you face multiple sources of direct light.
Correct Chromatic Aberrations
The lens is designed from 25 elements in 19 groups. This includes two ED glass elements, one Super ED element, two Fluorite elements and an SR (Short Wavelength refractive) element. Together, these bend blue light rays more so than red and green and this helps to correct chromatic aberrations.
Lighter than you think
When most photographers picture a 400mm f2.8, the last thing that comes to mind is maneuverability. Nikon has meticulously engineered this lens to be lightweight and well balanced making it super steady and easy for you to shoot with.

The lens has been built to last. Fully sealed around all moving parts of the lens, you can shoot with peace of mind.
Customisable control ring
The FN ring on Z lenses is becoming a staple. This new super telephoto is no different. With the FN ring; photographers are easily able to adjust key settings at ease while starting down the barrel.
Integrated 1.4x teleconverter
The lens features a built-in 1.4x teleconverter. An ingenious feature of this lens, the 1.4x teleconverter can be activated by the flick of a switch. This means you can extend your zoom range to 560mm with ease, particularly when time isn’t on your side.
5.5-stop VR
The Integrated vibration reduction offers stability up to 5.5 stops. Pair this with the Nikon Z9 and experience smooth functionality with Synchro VR.
Drop-in filter ready
The lens features a slot that makes it easy to use a range of drop-in filters to help control challenging lighting with ease.
