This is the perfect microphone for vloggers, YouTubers, journalists and content creators. Thanks to its wireless design it allows stress-free shooting and delivers clear audio in diverse environments and the omnidirectional mic capsule helps to pick up your voice clearly wherever it's coming from, so there's no need to worry about which way the unit is facing.
The microphone is equipped with an attenuator function that allows you to easily adjust recording levels appropriately to match the source by flipping a switch to reduce the level of very loud sounds or amplify quiet ones, for optimised audio levels. It also has a windscreen for comfortable recording when shooting outdoors and works perfectly when paired with the Sony ECM-LV1 Stereo Lavalier Microphone. (sold separately)
Effective noise suppression during audio transmission
Unlike conventional analogue audio transmission, you’ll never need to worry about cable signal interference. Just pair the ECM-W2BT with any Sony camera that supports a Digital Audio Interface via a Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe for clear, low-noise, all-digital audio.
Stable transmission between microphone and receiver
The mic uses a Qualcomm® aptX™ Low Latency Bluetooth® codec that is used for transmission between the microphone and receiver units, ensuring low latency and undiminished audio quality. The unit is also capable of a 200m (600ft) operating distance in locations with good visibility.
Great for single and two-person shoots
The ECM-W2BT allows you to record two people at the same time. In addition to the main wireless microphone, there's also an internal microphone inside the receiver unit, allowing you to record both the camera operator and the main subject.
You can also set the mic in a central position by using the connector protect holder included with the unit as a microphone stand. The omnidirectional microphone will capture audio from everyone, even when shooting multiple people.
Long battery life
Both the transmitter and the receiver feature built-in batteries and, when paired with cameras that support power supply via an MI Shoe, you can shoot up to nine hours wirelessly.
Dust- and moisture-resistant construction
The ECM-W2BT features a moisture- and dust-resistant construction allowing you to use it in harsher weather conditions. Its components incorporate weather-sealed seams and port covers to help maximise dust and moisture resistance.
Ready to use with a variety of devices
The mic is ready to use with a wide variety of devices, not just cameras and camcorders. It also works with PCs and digital voice recorders or anything that has an external mic input. The microphone is expandable via the 3.5mm stereo mini-jack on the transmitter and the ECM-LV1.
Compact and lightweight
With the microphone weighing just 27g and the receiver being 28g, the ECM-W2BT is light enough to take with you wherever you go. You can carry both receiver and microphone together in the holder provided which also functions as a handy storage unit when you want to take the ECM-W2BT with you somewhere.
Conveniently adjustable audio pickup modes
A switch on the receiver lets you select from three available pickup modes – microphone only, the receiver only, or a mix of both microphone and receiver.
Protection against recording failures
The ECM-W2BT features clear indicator LEDs on the receiver for peace of mind while recording. A LINK lamp shows the status of communication between the microphone and receiver, while a POWER lamp indicates the remaining battery charge.
