I use Ubuntu Linux, and the tablet works "out of the box" without having to install drivers. Plug in and go! Had to set up the buttons and rings, but that was fairly easy from ubuntu settings, once I'd worked out what to put where.
Never used a tablet before, except to try out a friend's before buying. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to draw, and also to use the tablet instead of a mouse. The pressure sensitivity is great for sketching and expression. (I use Gimp for pixel images)
I also use it for vector drawing (inkscape) and that's great too - freehand, or node-placing and pulling the paths to shape, both great, so much nicer than the mouse.
I won't throw my pencils and paper away, but I will be using this a lot.
If you're a bit heavy on the stylus it's gonna wear out quick. Also the surface. I guess that's to be expected, but be careful. I've put a sheet of paper over the working area.
Also, altho the mode button works, the lights don't change to reflect it. I found ways to get round this, but they involved writing scripts and stuff, which I don't want to do. So I just have it alternate zoom, brush size, zoom, brush size, and use it like a toggle. I guess this is a problem with the ubuntu driver.
