Xvive U5 Complete System

The Xvive U5 is a wireless audio solution for videographers who are looking to have two speaking subjects on camera at the same time. This set comes with a receiver, 1 transmitter and 1 lavalier microphone.

It is also possible to broadcast your 2.4 GHz signal to more than one receiver, meaning you can send it to two video cameras, or one camera and one mixer or audio recorder.

The Xvive U5T2 Two-pack U5 System is also available which contains a receiver, 2 transmitters and 2 lavalier microphones.

100-foot wireless range

The Xvive U5 has a 100-foot wireless range to ensure that your speaking subject has the freedom to go wherever the situation takes them. The U5 receiver offers outstanding signal stability thanks to each of its two channels having two antennas.

LV1 Lavalier Microphone

This set includes an LV1 Lavalier microphone to allow you to clearly capture conversations. The mic can capture sound in high-resolution 24-bit / 48 kHz digital audio, with no audible hiss, hum or background noise. Frequency Response is accurate throughout the range of the human voice but the sound is cut at 100 Hz. This is to ensure that the mic signal is rumble-free. There is also an unnoticeable latency of just 6 milliseconds between the transmitter and the receiver.

Connect to Multiple Devices

You have the option to connect the U5 Transmitter to other mono audio sources such as a mixer or audio player via the 3.5mm (1/8”) line in jack as opposed to sending a lavalier microphone signal wirelessly. You also have a similar option when using the receiver. Instead of connecting directly to a camera, you can connect to an audio device such as a mixer or recorder.

The Choice is Yours

The U5 receiver is dual channel meaning that you can receive a signal from one or two transmitters, and its stereo output can send the signal to the DSLR (or audio device) however you like.

If you are using one transmitter you can use Mono mode. This allows you to either balance the left and right sides equally, or you can have one side quieter than the other to avoid clipping. If one side does clip then you have the option to delete it in the edit and then simply normalise and centre the clean track.

If you are using two transmitters then you have other options. You can mix them on the fly and commit to the blend in Mono mode or you can separate them left and right in Stereo mode. This gives you the option to blend them later in the editing stage.

Safety First

The transmitters feature sturdy belt clips to keep them secure during filming and are also small enough to fit in a pocket when not in use. The LV1 Lav mics come equipped with 3.5 mm screw-in plugs so that it won’t get accidentally disconnected.

The power switch has been designed so that it is near impossible to turn off by accident and if you slide to the  “hold” position the unit will disable the controls so that you can't accidentally change settings when in use.

All the Power you Need

The Xvive U5 uses rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and these can be charged using any 5V USB power supply in two-and-a-half hours. This can be done while in the transmitter/receiver units or in the U5C Charger* and will give you five hours of runtime.

You can also plug the units into power while you are using them, and the batteries are removable, so if your shoot runs longer than the battery life you can easily swap them out in seconds.
