Leica Q-P Digital Camera

The Q-P houses a full-frame sensor combined with an exceptional lens and high-res viewfinder to satisfy the most demanding professional.

The Q-P embodies Leica's no-nonsense appeal and reductionist design aesthetic while delivering benchmark performance for full-frame compact cameras.

What's the difference between the Leica Q and Leica Q-P?

The Leica Q-P features a redesigned shutter release button intended to more closely emulate the M-/CL- style button. The objective being to get one step closer to distilling the same 'Leica feeling' one might get while shooting with their flagship cameras.

Similar to other -P models the Red dot have been deleted from the front side of the camera while the classic Leica lettering has been retained on the top of the camera.

With the deleted Red dot and black matte paint finish, developed by a Swiss specialist in high resistance lacquers, the Leica Q-P takes on a suave stealthy character.

Are the Leica Q-P specifications the same as the Leica Q?

Yes. The Leica Q-P shares the same internal components as the Leica Q.

Meaning you can expect to view the world through the same outstanding viewfinder and resolve impeccable image quality through the much loved Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH. This is currently the fastest lens in its class.

The Leica Q-P also shares the same excellent ISO range as the Leica Q allowing you to shoot in low light at up to ISO 50,000.

Clifton Cameras reviews the Leica Q-P:

This is a matter of opinion but we believe the Leica Q-P might be the best street camera on the planet. It's without a doubt the best looking compact camera we've seen. We're a big fan of the discretion add by deleting the dot and the matte black finish gives it a staunch yet debonair character.

There's not a great deal of competition in the full frame compact camera segment so it's not hard for the Leica to swoop the top spot. But even if there were the Summilux lens is professional grade and is likely the best glass on any compact camera full-frame or otherwise. The 28mm focal length is ideal for street, landscape and documentary photography. And being a fixed lens it's also very fast at f/1.7.

In short, if we could choose any compact camera for a getaway that wasn't nature-based this would be the one.

AF is so quick and responsive on this camera it makes taking street photos so easy. The 28mm lens is perfect for most situations, combined with full frame resolution which gives so much latitude for cropping in post.
The wireless feature is a bit clunky.

EVF - is field sequential so need to keep your eye dead centre for best results, this stopped me from buying it. Better with OLED.
Single focal length at 28mm a bit too wide, 35mm better
