This filter only transmits the key wavelengths from emission nebulae, so their colours stand out in the dark. Ideal for enhancing your Celestron Origin’s views and images of nebulae in urban areas.
For Nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters
As a narrowband filter, it blocks much of the visible spectrum and only lets specific wavelengths through. These discrete wavelengths of light include Hα at 656nm, Hβ at 486nm, and OIII at 496/501nm. Due to this, the filter works best when observing or imaging broadband emission objects, such as galaxies and star clusters.
When you combine this Hydrogen-alpha, Hydrogen-beta, doubly ionized oxygen (Hα-Hβ-OIII) imaging filter with your Intelligent Home Observatory, you can enjoy the most stunning views of nebulae. This sophisticated filter obstructs additional wavelengths that might influence image clarity or detail while permitting ample light wavelengths from emission nebulae to pass through. The final outcome is bright, vivid nebulae images that contrast against the backdrop of a dark night sky.
Counters light pollution
You’ll immediately notice much higher contrast in your images, especially from your light-polluted backyard! And since the transmission at the critical wavelengths is so high, the nebula will not be dimmed—only the background will be blacker. You’ll also notice some contrast improvement in images of nebulae from darker skies, as the filter serves well in blocking natural skyglow.
Built for Origin’s RASA Optics
Because the Origin 6” RASA optical system brings light into the filter at a steeper angle, causing a spectral shift, this filter has been specifically designed to work at f/2.2.
Plus, the use of Schott glass with anti-reflective coatings further improves the image clarity and suppresses reflections from the glass.
