Leica M11 Body Only
The Leica M11 instigates a new benchmark in rangefinder photography. The sublime combination of a timeless design with ground-breaking internal technology creates a camera that is as intuitive as you. Rebuilt from the ground up, this newest generation of the legendary Leica-M range breaks boundaries by enabling a free choice of image resolution captured on the new BSI CMOS Sensor with Triple Resolution Technology.
Your Images, Your Resolution
Unique to the Leica M11, this rangefinder camera offers the photographer free choice of the resolution they shoot with. Choose between 60MP, 36MP & 18MP and open up a new world of composition opportunities.
This versatility to choose the resolution, owing to pixel binning technology, offers unparalleled opportunities to match every image brief. Use the Leica M11 to photograph exceptional billboard-quality campaigns, tell stories through travel and street photography, and dive into the picture with intense crops packed with detail.
Crop images in-camera up to 1.3x and 1.8x (45mm and 64mm equivalent respectively) to ensure tack-sharp features in every shot.
New BSI CMOS Sensor
Redesigned from the inside out, the Leica M11 features a brand new sensor. Exclusively designed for the M11, this Full-Frame Backside Illuminated (BSI) CMOS Sensor features Triple Resolution Technology.
Experience improved noise reduction as more light reaches the sensor. Faster readout speeds thanks to the Maestro III Processor. And higher resolution owing to the Triple Resolution Technology that provides the best performance yet.
Further improvements to the new full-frame sensor include colour filter technology that features Leica’s dual-layer absorption filter glass. With this addition, the sensor is much more resistant to flare, thus producing images of higher contrast and depth.
Incomparable Image Quality
The three resolution choices offer a range of different shooting styles, all of which create imagery of incomparable quality. As well as photographing in 60MP 14bit DNG, lower the resolution via pixel binning to 36MP for maximum performance overall, or again to 18MP for maximised noise reduction in low-light environments.
With a wide ISO range of 64-50000, the Leica M11 performs extremely well in low-light conditions. Across the resolution choices, the camera operates with up to 15 stops of Dynamic Range ensuring that high and low-light details can be recovered with minimal disturbance.
Advanced Metering Features
With advanced metering features including a new image engine, the sensor is used for light metering even in rangefinder mode. This improved function uses less power consumption than most CSC Mirrorless cameras for improved energy efficiency.
Available in rangefinder mode, multifield light metering offers light readings for both still and flash exposure. Excellent accuracy is achieved as the metering is always calculated when the shutter is open, increasing the spontaneity of the photographic process.
Fast and Sharp Every Time
Experience shooting at a lightning pace, the Leica M11 has an electronic shutter speed of 60s to 1/16,000s and a mechanical shutter speed of 60 minutes to 1/4000s. This incredible speed, achieved by the BSI CMOS Sensor, allows for a greater range of photographic styles and experimentation with this manual focus camera.
Further noise reduction via an additional “black picture” is also present, with the option to disable the function if desired.
Timelessly Resilient Design
Designed specifically to emanate the generations of iconic Leica rangefinders, the latest M11 is constructed of high-quality aluminium with a deep black finish. The aluminium material coupled with the top plates slimmer design makes the camera 20% lighter*.
Built for significantly improved endurance, the M11 body is more scratch-resistant than its predecessors. Making it the most resilient Leica M series camera so far.
*Black Paint variant is 20% lighter due to aluminium top plate. Silver Chrome is constructed from Brass and is therefore slightly heavier. See specification sheet for weight breakdown.
Dual Memory Card Slots
Capture more with the dual memory card slots. UHS-II cards are recommended for use with the Leica M11, however, the camera does also accept SD/SDHC/SDXC and UHS-I memory cards. The M11 also features 64GB of internal memory for further photo storage.
New to the M-range, the Leica M11 does not feature a baseplate at the bottom of the camera. The removal of the baseplate instead ensures direct access to the new USB-C port, battery compartment and SD card slots for improved accessibility.
Leica FOTOS App
For a fast and easy workflow, Leica includes multiple connectivity options for iPhone and iPad users. Connection to the Leica FOTOS App via the included FOTOS Cable allows for firmware updates directly from your smart device. Use the FOTOS app to view, rank, select and edit your photos for instant sharing.
A redesigned menu can be found in the Leica M11. Enhanced with an improved touch display, the new button and menu layout has been optimised to match the SL2/Q cameras. An additional FN button improves operation speed making it easier to find the functions you use most.
The Leica M11 introduces a new BP-SCL7 battery that offers much-improved performance. With 64% more capacity, the Leica M11 is a more energy-efficient choice.
A Leica camera is an investment and the Leica M11 is no different. Its future proof design is fully compatible with the entire M-lens ecosystem. With its additional iOS compatibility that offers firmware updates via the FOTOS app, this is a camera that will be with you for many years.

How does the resolution choice work?
The user is able to select, through the menu system, what resolution they wish to shoot at. Choose between photographing at 60, 36, and 18 megapixels. The resolution is then decreased via pixel binning.
The process in which the camera takes a group of four adjacent pixels (in a 2x2 quad) and combines them. Treated as one extra-large pixel, the image size is reduced along with image noise.
What is the benefit of Triple Resolution Technology?
Choice resolution is an incredibly beneficial feature. It means that the camera is able to work with you and your current requirements.
L-DNG (60MP) – The finest quality available with the M11. Best for fine art printing or for those looking to crop into the image. The dynamic range is as good as the Leica M10-R.
M-DNG (36MP) – The best overall performance resolution. Increases the dynamic range by +1 compared to L-DNG.
S-DNG (18MP) – Produces the least noise, better for low-light photography. Increases the dynamic range by a further +1.
Does the M11 have a removable baseplate?
The Leica M11 does not feature a baseplate at the bottom of the camera. The removal of the bottom plate instead ensures direct access to the new USB-C port, battery compartment and SD card slots, and reduces the overall weight of the camera.
Does the M11 have IBIS?
While the Leica M11 does not feature in-built image stabilisation (in order to keep the body lightweight) the electronic viewfinder does feature live view image stabilisation. This ensures that as you look through the rangefinder the image is a clear as a traditional SLR camera.
Does the Leica M11 record film?
No, the M11 is a purest camera and only shoots still images.
