Fujifilm is synonymous with high-quality imagery. Their extensive range of Mirrorless XF and XC lenses have been used by top photographers around the world. Designed for their Fujifilm X series cameras, these mirrorless lenses integrate seamlessly into the system and are arguably at the top of the mirrorless camera game. Ranging from every lens imaginable, from telephoto zooms, to prime lenses, to wide opening wide-angle lenses, to the macro lens, there is a host of choices for every photographic style.
What is the difference between Fujifilm XF and XC mirrorless lenses?
When you are looking to expand your Fujifilm X Series collection you have to ask yourself the question: XF or XC? Fujifilm XF lenses are built to a higher quality with a metal body and lens mount, whereas the XC range is mostly plastic in their construction. The benefit to a plastic XC lens is they are lighter in price and weight, and thus easier to carry on long shoots, however, they do sacrifice robustness as a result. XC lenses also do not have an aperture ring or toggle switch for OIS. XF lenses, on the other hand, have a much higher build quality and are more likely to have weather sealing – lookout for the ‘WR’ in the lens title for this feature. They also have more advanced features such as an aperture ring and toggle switch for OIS however, this comes with a larger price tag.
If photographing in the great outdoors is your thing then be sure to look out for the ‘WR’ in the lens title. Standing for Weather Resistance, these lenses are sealed in multiple areas to protect them from dust, moisture and temperature, so that when the unexpected happens, you are ready.
