Nikon Digital SLR lenses come in two different mounts, FX for full-frame camera systems and DX for cropped frame sensors. As a general rule FX (full-frame) lenses can be used on both full-frame cameras and cropped frame cameras. When putting the lens on the latter however the lens will be more magnified due to the 1.5x sensor crop. In order to work out how long the focal length will be, if you choose to use an FX lens on a cropped frame camera, simply multiply the focal length by 1.5. It is worth noting too, that DX lenses cannot be used on full-frame cameras.
Focal Length x 1.5 = FX lens focal length on a Cropped Sensor Camera Body
